Screenplay Evaluation Form

Use the following checklist after you've written your first draft. The inclusion of these items does not assure success. It merely suggests your story is superior to the various other screenplays written by others.

___The story clearly describes a viewpoint on life.
___The story clearly states or promotes a position regarding the validity of this viewpoint on life or the parts of this viewpoint (Thesis Statement).
___The viewpoint of life and the position regarding it are interesting or though-provoking.
___There is a clear summary of the story's arguments within the first 10 pages.
___Throughout the story, we find three or more distinct reasons or arguments to support the story's position.
___It is clear how each of the arguments is related to the thesis.
___The story provides enough support for its position.
___It is clear how the action of each scene relates to the topic of the story.
___The story is concise; it does not include excessively long scenes (more than three pages.)
___The story avoids clichés.
___The story is strong on the qualities of the Key Appeals (Money, Affection, Status and Security)
